The Atacama Desert and Altiplano Plateau are some of the most incredible and photogenic regions in all of South America. The combination of altitude and geographical location created special conditions here and contributed to the emergence of unique landscapes.
Starry sky in Bolivia
The Atacama is the driest desert on earth. While in these places, it begins to seem that you have literally arrived on another planet. There is a very clean, transparent atmosphere and almost complete absence of humidity - almost ideal conditions for observing the starry sky. Also you can find here giant volcanoes, geological formations, endemic cacti and colorful lakes... This region is perhaps one of the best in the world for landscape and night photography. Photos of the Milky Way in the southern hemisphere are especially spectacular, because only here you can see the center of our galaxy.
Volcanoes of South America
The Andean Altiplano is the highest plateau in the world after Tibet. Heavy rains and droughts have created austere and beautiful landscapes here. We will see beautiful lakes inhabited by thousands of flamingos, the world's largest salt marsh of Uyuni, where you can take really amazing photos.

February is a great time to visit and photograph the Atacama and Altiplano. You can find beautiful clouds in the sky, and the salt marshes of Uyuni can be partially flooded with water and turn into a giant mirror.
Astro photography in Bolivia
The Bolivian part of the Altiplano is one of the most charming, deserted, but at the same time extraordinarily beautiful and surreal places in South America. On this photo tour we will be able to see a variety of animals: flamingos in the high mountain lagoons, white-tailed hawks, condors, ostriches, llamas, alpacas, guanaques and bicuunas, and if we are lucky, we will be able to photograph an armadillo.
The map of the Chile and Bolivia photo tour
We will travel and photograph the best and most iconic places in Chile and Bolivia, we will see stunningly beautiful landscapes far from cities and civilization.
Cacti, Bolivia
We will visit the eccentric and vibrant La Paz - the political capital of Bolivia, a city that literally touches the clouds, as well as the incredible Lake Titicaca - the highest navigable lake in the world, where residents build their own islands from reeds. We will see and film all this.
Bolivia, ancient church
Our tour will be in high altitude areas, but we have planned it to gradually gain altitude, and the highest altitude areas will be in the middle and in the end of the program, so we will have time to acclimatize.
Flamingo in Bolivia
At the end of our journey we will go to the beautiful volcanoes Sajama and Parinacota on the border of Chile and Bolivia. These are perhaps some of the most photogenic volcanoes on earth!

ITINERARY

Day 1 (March 18)

We meet early in the morning at the airport in the capital of Chile, Santiago, and fly local airlines to the town of Calama, from where we depart for San Pedro de Atacama, where our journey along the Chilean part of the route begins. San Pedro de Atacama lies at an altitude of 2450 m above sea level, which is very convenient for starting high-altitude acclimatization.
Days 2-3 (March 19 - 20)

These days we will make radial trips from our hotel in the very pleasant and authentic town of San Pedro de Atacama and gradually get used to the altitude. We will visit the Valley of the Moon, see the incredible landscapes of El Tatio, go to the Atacama Salt Flats, and film at the Licancabur volcano.

Breakfast included
Day 4 (March 21)

This day we head to the border with Bolivia, and our first stop will be Laguna Blanca and Laguna Verde (altitude about 4300 m) - two beautiful lakes with the stunning Licancabur volcano as a backdrop. We will also see other equally photogenic lakes, volcanoes and the Salvador Dali desert, and have lunch at the hot springs in the Mirror Lagoon.

Evening shooting is planned at Laguna Colorada, one of the most beautiful and interesting places in Bolivia, where many flamingos live. The water in the lake is red because of the microscopic crustaceans that flamingos feed on. And there we will spend the night in a guest house nearby (altitude 4300 m).

Breakfast, lunch and dinner included
Days 5-6 (March 22 - 23)

We will spend the morning shooting at the Colorada Lagoon, and then we will move to the Uyuni Salt Flat, where we will shoot fantastic landscapes of the giant salt flat for 2 days. (Height 3650 m)

We will visit the island where we will see giant cacti, a crater and many other interesting things. If we are lucky with the weather, part of the salt marsh will be flooded with water, and we will be able to take stunning shots of the mirror surface.

Breakfast included
Day 7 (March 24)

This day, after sunrise shooting on the salt flats and breakfast at the hotel, we will head to La Paz. The journey will take approximately 7 hours. We will check into a wonderful hotel, relax and get ready for the next adventure.

La Paz is a very unusual city located on the slopes of the Andes. The elevation difference here is more than 2000 m. Here you can see very colorful authentic streets, stunning landscapes, a witches market and a lot of interesting things.

Breakfast and lunch included
Days 8-9 (March 25 - 26)

In the morning we will go to the legendary Lake Titicaca, along the way we will make photo stops and take a boat to Sunny Island, which the locals created from reeds. We will film a lot and spend the night there on the island.

And the next day, after dawn shooting and breakfast, we return to La Paz, where we will be at approximately 19:00.

The next morning we will continue our journey to Sajama and Parinacota. However, it is possible to end the program here and fly home from La Paz that day.

Breakfast and lunch included

SAJAMA AND PARINACOTA

Days 10-13 (March 27 - 30)

In the morning we leave for Sajama National Park, another amazing place on the border with Chile. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets, geysers, volcanoes and alpine lakes await us, and of course, astrophotography.

And finally, the pearl of our trip is the Parinacota volcano with its stunning landscapes, the likes of which you will hardly find in other parts of the world.
