Meeting in Portland, transfer to Columbia River.
We'll meet in the morning at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites - Portland Airport - Cascade Stn near Portland Airport. At noon we'll leave for the Columbia River, where we will stay for the next two nights at a hotel in a picturesque setting surrounded by mountains, rivers, and numerous waterfalls.
Columbia River Falls.
We'll devote this day entirely to waterfalls. We'll walk around the vicinity and photograph the waterfalls from different angles and locations. We're going to be very busy exploring the river gorge! For the sunset photography session, we'll visit Rowena Crest viewpoint and delight in the gorgeous scenery that opens up from it.
In the morning we'll walk to the most picturesque waterfall, and then will take off to the south towards Smith Rock Park. On our way, we'll stop to take pictures of interesting locations. At sunset, we'll visit the iconic Smith Rock, which is especially beautiful in the rays of the morning or setting sun.
Smith Rock, John Day Fossil Beds
Early this morning we'll climb to the sunrise photo location on Smith Rock. At sunset, we'll photograph the stunning colored hills of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument..
At dawn, depending on the weather, we'll climb Smith Rock one more time or, otherwise, take a walk to a picturesque forest waterfall, and then move to another iconic place in Oregon, Crater Lake.
Crater Lake was formed by the fall of a volcano some thousand years ago. Now, it's an awe-inspiring blue lake with a charming island anchored just off the lakeshore.
Here we'll be shooting landscapes from the edge of the caldera from different angles at sunrise and sunset.
Crater Lake, heading to the ocean
After photographing Crater Lake in the morning, we'll take a long journey (220 miles) to the Pacific coast. We'll start with Redwood Park in Northern California. Redwood Park is famous for its supertrees, which are the tallest on earth -- the height of coastal sequoias reaches 115 meters (377 ft) with a diameter of up to 12 meters (39 ft).
Pacific coast of Oregon
For the next three days, we'll be photographing gorgeous locations on the most beautiful coastline on earth. We'll visit the bizarre cliffs of Bandon Beach, the famous Thor's Well, the Heceta Head lighthouse, the picturesque Kiwanda cape, and many other locations.
